Today I give you the "real" demo of Finnish atmospheric dark metal or dark/doom, black/doom whatever label you prefer, band Haven In Shadows (remember their rehearsal/demo posted here) who soon after this changed name to Shadows and kind of faded away. Which is a shame, I like this very much. Very atmospheric and doomy, like the instrumental rehearsal was, but now adding vocals and additional instrumentation. The sound is somewhat softer than on the rehearsal but it fits well with the dreamlike atmosphere the music often produces.
I got this from the band back at the day and I have to say the sound was not exactly great even on those 1st gen dubs they sent around, there's hissing, low (and inconsistent - this has slightly been fixed here) volume, some tape imperfection etc. None of that however matters as the music is excellent and the lightly muffled sound adds up to the atmosphere. Cover scan included. Essential, recommended to all readers to try!

Mmmm! This is good, gloomy atmosphere which I really like. But yes, the rehearsal from '95 works much better for me, as I totally love that kind of distorted rehearsal sound of the guitars. Thank you!

Does you have the second demo of Pagan Rites?, called Throught the Gates of Hell, aparently, the homonimous song are no present in any compilation or album...

Thanks for the comments, guys and I agree with comrade TD on the guitar sound, I was originally quite dissappointed with the sound on this after having heard the rehearsal first.
@Heathcliff: Sorry I don't have that demo (at least as far as I can remember) - but I think I've seen a rip around, have to browse. TD you got this?
Sorry, but I don't have the mentioned demo... I have the "Pagan Metal" demo dubbed somewhere, if interested.
But I have to say that unfortunately I'm not able to rip anything at the moment (remember the other promised compilation tapes?), got some heavy technical problems with my music software... Modern shit! Some time ago a tape deck and a record player was all you needed^^
No probs, I just thought you might have it. I'll keep looking around if it pops up somewhere.
Shame you won't be able to rip & post for a while - modern technology can get annoying at times, especially anything involving computers...
