Back to metal and my "Turkish death metal" - series, here's another demo I got from the same trader, the 1st version of Deathroom's 1993 demo. Comes with a xeroxed cover and has slightly different tracklisting compared to the 2nd edition, see below for that cover (taken from the MySpace):

Music is grinding death metal, basically quite old schoolish but with some interesting bits thrown in like the melodic part on "Destrudo" and the instrumentals. Good, clear demo sound. I find myself liking this quite a bit, despite some of the lyrics being more life metal than necessary. Check it out if you're into death metal.

Death From Above
2) Moonlight Shadows
3) Ancient Hate
4) Sin Rain

Reuploaded - 2022

Time for another Turkish death/doom demo, this again gained from a tape trader ages ago. I didn't have a cover but I've included a pretty good image I stole... borrowed from Demo Archives. Seen above is the Metal Archives image. And yes, I'm well aware the band was still called just "Moon" at the time this demo was released, however for clarity's sake I chose to tag 'em as M.O.O.N. (spelling they adopted a bit later) for ease of telling them apart from the other bazillion Moons.

Pretty good quality rip of a decent dub, the sound could however be more balanced yet this is an issue with the demo itself. The main vocal is a bit overtly strong and goes a bit more for the right ear. The music and instruments are still well audible, not drowned fear not. The sound changes a little (for better balanced) around mid-demo and completely again for the last track. Quite good death/doom with a touch more violence (due the vocals) than usual and some neat synths in the background. Worth checking out if you enjoy the genre!

Parricide - Live in Istanbul 24.06.1995

Parricide (tur) - Live in Istanbul, Turkey 24th June 1995
1)
Scatterings
2) Tears
3) Thoughts of Pain

Reuploaded

Another live tape, this one sort of companion to the Asafated one I uploaded a little while ago. Not just as this too is doomy death metal from Turkey, but from also the same date and probably the same venue. As the tracklisting above hints, this is a pretty short one and possibly incomplete. Of course, I've seen bands play very short sets myself, even this short (remember Horna warming up for Gorgoroth at Tavastia in... uh... that one year?) but more likely this is just incomplete. Leave me a note if you happen to know!

Tape traded item, audience recording I suspect but has a good live sound. Quite balanced and audible. Music this particular Parricide performs is slowish and thus doomy death metal, with some synth backing it up. It's not at all bad, I haven't heard their "Scatterings" demo but would like to do so, again leave me a note if you have it! I'm not 100% sure of the second tracks title, that's what I got and he'd seem to say so too. They don't have a track of that name on the demo however. Which naturally needn't mean anything. Anyways, the tracklisting I had didn't include the third track either. But enough about that, this is what I've got for today.

Asafated - Live in Istanbul 24.06.1995

Asafated - Live in Istanbul, Turkey 24th June 1995

2) Lonely
3) Goner
4) Violent Desires
5) Lost Innocence
6) Divine Suffocation
7) Summer Holyday
8) Lonely (Encore)

Reuploaded

Here's the last Asafated item from my tapes, a live show from 1995 I got from a trader. Complete recording, to the point of including a soundcheck/jam/whatever in the beginning - it's short enough to pass as an intro and you can skip it anyways.

All songs are familiar from their demos and "Kaybolmuş Masumiyet" album, including the "Summer Holyday" instrumental, which ends their set proper here, it was retitled "7" later. I'm not sure why they play "Lonely" again as an encore, probably simply because they didn't have anything else rehearsed. Well it's their best track so I don't mind. Good live sound and a decent performance so pick this up if you enjoyed their material.

Asafated - Lonely re-recording 1995

Asafated - Lonely re-recorded demo II 1995
1) Goner
2) Lonely
3) Divine Suffocation (re-mix)

Reuploaded

Before you start moaning and proclaim me demented, let me state that yes, I know I have posted the second Asafated demo back in last February and I would like you to pay attention to the word "re-recorded" up there. Like I said in that old post, which was the original version, the band wasn't 100% pleased with the demo and redid it... in the same year, I don't know the details! Anyways, this now is the second take on the demo and I agree this is better than the first version. I got this from my trader who was friends with the band so it's a dub of an original I believe. I don't know if they used the exact same cover for this version or if there was an altered one so I just placed their logo up there. So if you liked the demo first time around, or their other stuff you'll want this. If you haven't heard them but like doom/death then you should try this.

Some more death metal from Turkey and a band I don't have covers, logo or band photo either to go with the post! So you have to excuse me the lack of visuals this time. You might have figured out it already, but I'll tell you anyway that this is again another piece of loot from the good old tape trading days. Cover scans/band logo/pretty much anything appreciated.

UPDATE: Apparently the drummer of this band moved to Norway and started a band there, called Ominous Grief. The tracks I took a listen to sound more like melodic dark metal than death metal. I will investigate further. I'm hopefully getting a copy of the Scalprum demo covers soon so keep an eye on this.

UPDATE II: Reuploaded, link above updated. Contains the cover, flyer & pic scans given me. Thanks!

The demo contains four songs of fast & noisy death metal which however has melodic and mid-paced parts as well. It's actually very thrashy at times. You know, screaming Slayeresque leads and all that. Sound quality is ok, a little chaotic perhaps but mostly clear. Audible bass which is nice. Not really that much to add I guess, if you like death metal, deathrash - hell extreme metal in general - you might want to give this obscure demo a listen. It's quite good!

Asafated - Humanity Landscape demo 1994

Asafated - Humanity Landscape demo I 1994
1)
Humanity Landscape
2) Divine Suffocation

Reuploaded

Still more Turkish material, this one familiar from earlier posts. "Humanity Landscape" is the First demo of Asafated and you probably recognize both titles from later releases - "Divine Suffocation" being re-recorded on both the 2nd demo (which itself was re-recorded too, I'll post later that version) and the album. However, the versions present on this demo differ enough to merit a listen if you're into the band at all. I got a dub of this from a trading friend, however he also provided me with the original covers which I scanned & included here.

The sound on the demo is good, not very deep and heavy but clear. Musically this is more in basic death metal vein compared to the doomy feel of the later demo and album. A bit technical at times but not particularily complex, decent enough musicianship and all that. Strange intro to first track. Not as good as the 2nd demo but ok.

One Turkish demo more, this one, like the previous one, is a mixure of death & grind. However, there are some unusual moments that I might dare call atmospheric scattered about, most notably the whole of track 5. Most of the time it's fast-paced death/grind with ok sound and grunting vocals. I received the cover for this one, so it's scanned and enclosed. Lyrical content would appear to be life metal. As is typical for this genre, the tracks are short and the demo lasts just a bit less than ten minutes. I'll keep the post short too, so go ahead and download it. Or don't.

More Turkish brutality and Obscurity. Which is the name of this band here, and a host of others. However, this one played goregrind or death/grind, I'm not so good with these genres, and released only this single demo as far as I know. You might wonder at the image up there? Well, M.A. didn't have any sort of image on their entry nor could I find one so I scanned MySpace for a Turkish death metal or grind Obscurity and found this one. The profile was kind of empty otherwise so I just borrowed this and decided it was meant to be the same band. Anyways...
UPDATE: The Archives page was updated with band pic, logo and demo cover which you can see to the right and is included in the reupped folder. However, I kept the top pic because it's cool.

To the content. No less than 12 tracks here but most are very short, a bit less than 2 minutes average. Raw and brutal sounding death/grind but some of the tracks manage to contain quite a bit of groove in them which is nice. I like the sound and the harsh, snarling main vocals. The lyrics are your usual dumb misogynic splatter stuff, with the odd exception (Gipsy Ward). Since they're mostly incomprehensible, I don't let them annoy me too much. I actually kind of like this, so I guess I can recommend it in pretty good conscience. Oh yeah the dub & rip quality are ok too.

Cenotaph - Promo 1996

Cenotaph (tur) - Promo 1996

Source of Suspicions
2) Life Immortal

It's new year and pretty much the same old tricks... though I decided to start off the year with a few atypical posts, first some Turkish brutal death metal and grind demos. Cenotaph from Turkey play brutal and gory sort of death/grind, as you can see from the unpleasant cover image I borrowed from Metal Archives. I got this recording from a tape trader as filler to a tape and that pretty much all the back story I have to give on this. I presume this tape was released right before their debut album.

Two quite short tracks of brutal gore death metal with a pretty good, clear demo sound and ripped from a mostly good dub. The sound drifts to one side a little on the 2nd track's beginning but gets back in line soon. Slow heavy parts aplenty, which is always good, are countered by bursts of speed. I suppose the sound could be a bit heavier but othewise I don't have much to complain even if this isn't really my cup of tea. My disinterest in gore probably affects my opinion here. Recommendable for death maniacs.

Ok, let's do some death/doom for change: first here's the only full-lenght by the Turkish Asafated whose demo I posted earlier here. This album was released (as far as I know) only on cassette and my dub is probably from an original, courtesy of a tape trading. No covers then, so once again a M.A. image is used.

The sound is pretty good and so is the rip quality if you don't count a little flaw in the first track. The album contains the demo songs re-recorded and 3 new ones. Music is basically death metal, some tracks with doomy touches and generally more in the midtempo region. Lyrics would seem to be more at home in the death/doom category than true death metal if you know what I mean. Not a bad little album, give it a try if you liked the demo.

Another death metal demo I got from my Turkish trader comrade, this is the debut demo of the Istanbul based band Mouseleum. Released in limited quantity and very little known outside Turkey, this demo can also be listened to on the Death Symposium (the guys' new band) MySpace. So why am I posting it here? Well, I had already ripped it when I found out about the MySpace page and because I personally hate to listen to things online and believe many agree with my sentiment, I decided to go and upload it anyways. No covers and no cover art on the inter nets found so I decorated the post with a (tiny) band picture from 1993.

The demo contains 4 tracks and about 20 minutes of death metal, old school way. It sounds cavernous and occasionally little chaotic but this works for it. The rip is pretty good as is the sound. Death metal maniacs should give it a try.

Asafated - Lonely demo 1995

Asafated - Lonely demo II 1995
1)
Goner
2) Lonely
3) Divine Suffocation (Re-Mix)

Reuploaded

And now something a little different, the 2nd demo of the Turkish death metal band Asafated - pretty well known in their own land and less abroad I believe. I got this as an original tape from a pen pal/trader of mine who apparently knew the guys. The band re-recorded the demo later in 1995, this is the original version. I'll probably post the re-recording too once I remember on which tape's B side it was on.

Music is death metal with quite strong death/doom influences. The sound is clear but somewhat lacking in power, which I guess might be a reason for them to re-record the thing. Three songs only, one being a new version of a tune from the debut demo, but they're all 5 minutes or so. Cover scans included.
